RED-DB

Resistance Determinants DataBase(RED-DB) is a publicly available non-redundant repository of resistance gene sequences belonging to the mobile resistome, extracted from public available sources. RED-DB is based on a core of reference genes selected from reviewed literature, that are routinely used to scan INSDC databases for protein homologues using BLAST.

Reference genes names present in RED-DB, as well as gene clusters, were selected for consistency to meet the most commonly adopted criteria.

The database represents an updated repository of reference gene sequences, that can be used for the design of oligonucleotides for a variety of biological assays, for the extraction of protein sequences for phylogenetic analyses, and in general for bioinformatic applications where a defined set of coding sequences is needed.

The research leading to these results was partially funded by the European Community's Seventh Framework Programme FP7/2007-2013 under grant agreement no. 241742, TEMPOTest-QC project.
